First of all, the CEO of the company lists his social security number right on the front of the website for everyone to see (did you know it has also been SUCCESSFULLY stolen and USED more than 5 times now?). In their service, they place a 90 day fraud alert on your credit report every 90 days. This always keeps it on your report. Note: This can easily be done yourself with a simple phone call to equifax, they forward the info to the other 2 credit bureaus.

LifeLock will also take your name off the pre-approved credit card and junk mail lists. You can also do this yourself online fairly easily. After that they order your credit reports for you every year. You can also do this yourself for free from annualcreditreport.com.

Also, make sure to monitor your credit because you have to notify them within 30 days of the event for them to cover it. This was a little unsettling for me because I don't check my credit report every month.

NOW their Million Dollar policy. If you read their site carefully it is a reimbursement policy, meaning you will have to do some of the restoration yourself with kits provided by them.

Individual and family participants will be reimbursed for lost income and expenses associated with identity theft up to $20,000. The costs include expenses for legal fees, court costs, long distance phone calls, overnight charges and other related expenses, and subject to a (0) zero deductible. However, you still do much out of pocket yourself until fully resolved, which is when they will reimburse you....which is fine if you have the money left in the first place.

COST: Individual $72.00 annually or $6.50/month -OR- Family plan $140 annually or $12.50/month

PrePaid Legal's ID Theft Policy:
Identity Theft Plan is $9.95 if you have PrePaid Legal's Family Plan, if not coverage is at $12.95 per month plus a $10 enrollment fee. The services include: a free credit report* and score up front and then continuous credit monitoring, including email alerts on suspicious activity. So they will notify you of anything suspicious going on in your account.

PrePaid Legal also offers a full restoration management, meaning that someone else will go through all the hassle of restoring your identity back for you. If you have a PrePaid Legal Family Plan, Kroll will work with the PrePaid Legal Network in ALL 50 states and some providances in Canada to prosecute the alleged on your behalf, without further involvement of you. This will allow you to get things taken care of without the headaches and hassles. They will also follow up with you for 1 year after the crime to make sure everything has worked out properly.
